The First Great Story and other Geography stories for elementary children

The First Great Story is the story about our universe. In a Montessori classroom, we tell this tale at the beginning of the year. This is a story that leaves a lot for the imagination. While telling the story, the adult shows a series of experiments and charts to demonstrate various points in the story. We introduce the three states of matter, physical and chemical properties through our tale demonstrated to simply explain each. This story is meant to be an introduction to various subjects in the classroom. It is a starting point for other lessons in astronomy, chemistry, physics, geology, earth science and geography. The First Great Story is to be told every year at the beginning of the year in order create wonder and excitement for learning about science! We tell this tale to start at the beginning. Then all other stories for elementary children are set in time and place within the framework the beginning to now.
